How to connect Android to Mac with MacDroid

Enable Developer options

Open Settings on your Android device and go to the "About phone" section. Locate the phone's build number and tap on it seven times.

Enable USB Debugging

Find and switch on the "USB debugging mode" in the System Settings of your Android device.

Connect your Android to Mac

Connect your device to the computer with a USB cable. Install and open the MacDroid Android transfer app, open “Devices” in its main menu, and find your device on the list.

To transfer files between your Android and Mac, you can use MacDroid, which allows seamless file exchange via USB or Wi-Fi.
To enable MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) mode on your Android phone:
  1. Connect your phone to your Mac using a USB cable.
  2. On your phone, pull down the notification bar and tap on the USB connection option.
  3. Select "File Transfer" (MTP) from the list of options.
You can install and use MacDroid PRO on 5 Macs simultaneously.

If MacDroid doesn't find your Android device, try the following steps:
  1. Check the USB cable and port. Make sure to use a cable for data transfer, not just for charging.
  2. Make sure you are connecting not via a USB hub but directly to the Mac.
  3. Depending on the connection method you want to use:
    • MTP mode – Make sure MTP (File Transfer) is enabled in your phone’s USB settings.
    • ADB or Wi-Fi mode – Enable Developer options and turn on either USB Debugging (for ADB) or Wireless Debugging (for Wi-Fi).

To enable ADB mode on your Android:
  • Enable Developer Mode: Go to Settings > About phone and tap Build Number 7 times.
  • Turn on USB Debugging: In Settings > Developer options, enable USB Debugging.
