We are well used to the fact that YouTube is a video powerhouse of hit music videos, shows, and unique stuff you can't find anywhere else. All YouTube fans generally want the same - more choice of their favorite content, more ways to support their favorite creators, and naturally being able to watch their favorite videos without irritating interruption.
On October 28, 2015 Google released YouTube Red - a paid subscription service that should stop YouTube ads in videos hosted by the service, offline and background playback of videos on mobile devices, access to new original content, and music streaming without ads through the Google Play Music service. It costs $9.99 per month, which can be argued as expensive, and it seems that you still don't get rid of all ads, as those may still be viewed when coming across paid YouTube channels.
There is a pretty convenient and FREE way to remove YouTube ads and enjoy videos on Mac with Elmedia Player.
To skip ads on YouTube:
- Install Elmedia Player.
- Choose Open Online Video option from the main menu.
- Paste YouTube link in Elmedia.
- Select the resolution for your video.
- Click Open to start playback of your video from YouTube without ads.
‘Open Online Video’ is a unique feature developed by Eltima Software for their Elmedia Player. It will quickly play any videos (including YouTube, Vimeo, and Dailymotion) in Elmedia without opening your regular browser, if you have a direct video link.
If you want even more perks, like downloading YouTube videos on Mac and never get worried that original poster will delete them, you can use PRO version of Elmedia Player that costs $19.95 as a one-time payment. So in that case when you are watching YouTube videos through 'Open Online Video' option you'll just need to click 'Download' in context menu.
